Business Insights Manager (Spain and Portugal), Shire Pharmaceuticals - based Madrid
This position will support commercial activities and decision-making with the Spanish and Portuguese Local Operating Countries (LOCs) by providing sales and marketing insights. The Business Insights Manager (BIM) will incorporate sales analysis, primary and secondary market information and execute modeling/forecasting as required to enable strategic decisions, and to ensure adequate product supply at the country level. The BIM will also support collection of collect country-specific Competitive Intelligence data, provide pricing and reimbursement data as needed, and be the voice of the Spain/Portugal LOCs to Global Business Intelligence & Commercial Operations (GBICO).

Key Responsibilities:
- Forecasting 40%
- Complete models provided by BU forecasters (by incorporating primary and secondary market information) to support strategic and tactical decision-making and to ensure adequate product supply at the country level.
- Support LOC management team in the development of required country-level forecasts for all marketed and pipeline products (e.g. Budget, Sales & Operations Planning).
- Learn and operate the S&OP planning system (APO) in order to develop unit forecasts to support Supply Chain & Quality planning. Support the Sales and Operations Planning process as needed.
- Work with LOC management on local assumptions for forecasts.
- Coordinate modeling/forecasting processes with BU forecasters.
- Ensure necessary communications of country specific insights.
- Provide inputs to BU-developed models for products sold within each LOC.
- Provide feedback on models to BU forecasters.
- Resolve forecast variances with BU forecast team.
- Analytical Support for Marketers 40%
- Work closely with the country marketing team to understand the product strategies and Marketing Plans as well as the expected impact of each initiative.
- Review market and product performance at the national and sub-national level (using audit data and internal data systems [Nucleus/iCBI] where available) to understand influencing factors and the impact of promotional initiatives undertaken by both Shire and the competitors.
- Analyze results at the Area and Territory level to support excellence in promotional results allocation.
- Review sources on marketing intelligence for early warning on potential threats and opportunities.
- Support market research activities within the LOC, by (1) providing local input into global market research projects, and (2) developing (as needed) local market research projects.
- Collect and communicate county level CI Insights and incorporate such information into country level forecasts/models.
- ICO Projects 20%
- Coordinate or take responsibility for specific ICO projects in areas like organizational development, best practices dissemination, technology international initiatives, etc.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum
- Five or more years experience in pharmaceutical market research, forecasting, and/or sales analytics, gained in either a pharmaceutical company (at corporate headquarters or at the LOC headquarters) or in a mature consultancy/agency.
- Spanish market experience.
- Strong quantitative skills.
- Strong expertise with quantitative data sources (e.g., IMS).
- Experience in a range of pharmaceutical market forecasting techniques and their use for strategic decision making.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish.
- Computer literacy and good working knowledge of MS Office tools, especially MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Desirable
- Experience applying primary market research to forecasting.
- Experience with secondary data analysis in Spain or Portugal.
- Portugal market experience.
- Proficiency in Portuguese.
- An MBA or other Masters level degree.
- A life science degree.
- Pharmaceutical Sales Representative or Marketing experience.
